Chinese Five-Spice Noodle Soup (Serves 8)
Chinese Five-Spice Noodle Soup Here's what you will need:
  · 1 Celebrity Flank Steak (about 1 1/2 lbs.)
(may substitute brisket or other lean cut)
  · 8 cups water
  · 1/4 cup soy sauce
  · 2 Tbsp. ginger, minced
  · 1 tsp. sugar
  · 1 tsp. salt
  · 1 tsp. sesame oil
  · 1 tsp. sherry
  · 1 1/2 tsp. Chinese Five Spice powder
(or grind your own - star anise, cinnamon,
whole clove, fennel seed, whole peppercorns)
  · 1 tsp. ground Sichuan pepper or white pepper
  · 4 hot red fresh or dried red chiles (Thai or Serrano), cut into 1 inch lengths
  · 3 green onions, diced
  · Cilantro, chopped, for garnish
  · 1 pkg. Celebrity Spaghetti (1 lb.)

Place flank steak in heavy pot on stovetop. Add all ingredients except for green onions and cilantro, and bring to boil. Cover pot loosely, allowing a little of the moisture to evaporate, and reduce heat to lowest possible simmer. Cook for about 2 hours, then remove steak and slice against grain into 2-inch chunks. Reduce liquid in pot to about 8 cups of liquid, then strain the soup to remove all of the solid ingredients. Place cut meat into strained liquid on stovetop and keep warm. Follow package directions for spaghetti , then drain cooked noodles. Place cooked noodles in individual deep soup bowls. Add meat and soup. Top with diced green onion and chopped cilantro.
